A graduate of Columbia University’s MFA film program, Hong Kong-born Kit Hui made her feature film debut in 2010 with Fog. Set against the backdrop of the tenth anniversary of the HKSAR, the film stars Terence Yin as an amnesiac young man who goes about reconstructing his past and searching for his identity through various encounters with friends and family members as he wanders through Hong Kong’s cityscape. Fog received warm reviews on the festival circuit, screening at – among other venues – the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the Asian American International Film Festival, and the Bangkok International Film Festival. Prior to Fog, Hui’s thesis short (Missing, 2005) competed at Cannes, while her screenplay A Breath Away (2006) was chosen for participation in the Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF), the Sundance Writer’s and Director’s Lab, as well as the Cannes Cinefondation Residency.
